Reflections of Clouds and Surrounding Buildings
I really admire the way building designers use glass building facades to capture the reflections of the surroundings – in this case the surrounding buildings and the clouds.
Energex Crew changing a light bulb on a streetlight
The Energex Crew were out early in the morning to change the bulb on the street lamp outside of my house.
The bulb has blown a few weeks ago and I had been meaning to ring and let them know – only trouble was I forgot by the time the were open in business hours the next day.
Finally I remembered and brought up their website – searched everywhere but could not find how to tell them about street light not working…. tried the phone number …. ring during business hours…. aghhhhh.
Hang on, they have a Facebook page…. I will send a message via Facebook and “Hey presto!” the crew were out the morning after next to fix the light.
So here is the moral – If you are running a business or essential service – please make it easy for people to contact you … at the time they notice the problem!
As for the photo – it is fairly ordinary and yes they are my fingers reflecting on the inside of the window.
Caladiums on the Queens Street Mall, Brisbane
Another busy day at work and skipping lunch break – I actually took this photo on Friday last week (today is Monday). Caladium bulbs on the Queen Street Mall, Brisbane.
Let Sleeping Dogs Lie - Max the Wonder Dog grabbing a sleep
What can I say – Max the Wonder Dog was happy that I was outside in the middle of the night – keeping me company while i was waiting for the pesty possum to get out of the roof (again!)
The possum has been scratching way all week and had made a small hole that i thought was not big enough for a possum to fit. so, Saturday come and I replace the board with something must more secure.
Great you think … until nightfall and I hear lots of scratching in the roof.
I go outside, no possum outside…. damn, I have blocked off the hole with the possum on the inside…. Time to climb the ladder and remove the board until the possum gets out.
Anyway…. I all ended well – Max and I got to spend some quality time together, mozzies are all well fed, and the possum is on the outside!
Shadows of Autumn - Walking the dog in the late afternoon
The days are getting much shorter now at we move through Autumn in Australia.
Some people like to get up early and get those wonderful photographs of the morning light – I tend to be in a rush in the mornings (and stay up too late at night) so here is my photograph of shadows in the Autumn Afternoon.
F1 in Schools Cars by the F1 Super Geeks - Times are for 20 metre racetrack
Here is a sample of race cars from the F1 Super Geeks who held a function last night to thank their sponsors and supporters. The team are retiring.
The F1 Super Geeks are a team of students from Pine Rivers State High School who have been competing in the Australian F1 in Schools competition for the past two years of competition. They reached the National Final on both occasions and won a stack of respect along the way.
Remember, the team members were in Grade 7 & 8 (11 -13 yrs old) when they started.
If you look closely, you will see that race times improved with each generation of the race car – a real credit to the team of students.
Make sure you check out the websites – these kids are truly amazing.
Now this is a salad sandwich!
It is a busy day at work so I had to look close to home (my desk) for inspiration.
You too can have a nice salad sandwich in Brisbane from PJ’s Roast In on Adelaide Street – great food, great service, and great value.
Congratulations to me – I have joined the thousands of people who have taken a photograph of the koala statues on the top of the ‘Koala House’ building.
This is very popular with tourists – I regularly see people taking photographs of these two – you can find them at the corner of Creek and Adelaide Streets, Brisbane, Queensland (Australia of course)
A Nice Surprise - A Rainbow Lorrikeet Feeding on a Grevillia Flower
This is why it is good to have a camera handy – you never know when a great subject will present itself.
I have been trying to get a good photo of the rainbow lorrikeets but they always see me and move out of sight. This morning I was reversing out of the driveway and got out to close the garage door and this one was about two metres away – I quickly sat down and grabbed the camera out of my bag.
Hey presto – I finally got that photo.
